Study for “La Siesta” dates back to about 1888 and shares all the formal aspects with the official version of the painting, from 1884. What differs in this version is definitely a cold chromatic setting, which takes it out of the traditional Francesco Netti orientalist array, all characterized by a warm and soft, golden light. However, the work fits fully into the vast and diversified field of study of the painting La Siesta.
