Corner of Santeramo
Oil on canvas, cm 52,5x42,3
Conversàno, MUSeCo Polo Museale
Datable at the beginning of what is called “the second Neapolitan period”, in the early Seventies, on return from the stay in France. Together with this, there are subjects that concern Santèramo, rural scenes and aspects of simple life, in which, however, there is no doubt about the stylistic legacy of the French heritage.
Angolo di Santèramo presents the motif of houses composed diagonally, reminiscent of the French years, which places the painting in the early seventies. You can recognize a typical row of houses in the hilly town of Puglia, which acts as architecture to a bright painting, new for Netti and a stylistic freedom that leads him to mention the figures on the street as fleeting shadows: a sense of unfinished, common to the production of this period.
